This silk painting is hand made by Krousar Thmey’s (a non-Governmental Organization) students who were trained by Artisans d’Angkor, following Cambodian traditional techniques. It illustrates the Vessantara Jataka (Collection of the previous lives of the Buddha). It depicts a detail of the procession of elephants left to look for Maddi and Vessantara on request of Vessantara’s children, Sali and Kanhajina. The nacelle of the elephant is empty in anticipation of their return.
