Traditional use:
Tambok or traditional Iban seed-baskets were used to temporarily store seeds (mostly rice) prior to sowing the seeds in a newly prepared temporary rice swidden (shifting cultivation).
These were either slung over the shoulder or worn around one's waist.
Contemporary use:
A fine, scaled down seedbasket made of finely split bamboo and edged with rattan bindings. There is a contemporary pattern woven on the top edge of the basket. A traditionally processed bark strap is attached.
