Traditional use:
Ka-be bersegi or the Bidayuh lidded containers were originally made from uwe rattan strips and lined with raye' leaves when storing cooked rice.
However, these square, tightly woven non-lidded baskets are a contemporary form. The various floral pattern strips are formed by interweaving plain & enamel surface painted bamboo strips (black).
Contemporary use:
As a desk caddy, decorative gift box or drawer organiser.
