Eco-cotton
In our sewing programme we mainly use environmentally friendly cotton from our friends at Goel. Based in Cambodia, Goel produce beautiful hand woven fabric, dyed with 100% natural dyes. After dying cotton yarn at their workshops in Phnom Penh using dyes sourced from local plants, vegetables and fruits, the yarn is then sent to Takeo province where it is woven and finished by disadvantaged families in weaving villages.
Takeo province has been home to Cambodia's traditional textile industry for many generations. Bati, Ssomraong and Prey Kbba districts are the most important areas in Cambodia's textile history, and this where most of Goels weaving families are located. Goel provides income for such families where there are little other options. Years of tragic civil war not only destroyed a quater of its people's life but also most of its valuable traditional heritages. Natural dye and weaving skills are one of those precious cultures that need to be revived.
By buying a Daughters product, you are also supporting Goel to continue their wonderful and important work
Buttons and trims
We use locally sourced, natural and eco-friendly materials wherever possible – all our coconut buttons and rings are made in Pursat province in northern Cambodia.
